Three boys are in the school yard bragging about their fathers. The first boy says, ”My Dad scribbles a few words on a piece of paper, he calls it a poem, they give him $50.”
The second boy says, ”That’s nothing. My Dad scribbles a few words on a piece of paper, he calls it a song, they give him $100.”
Little Johnny says, ”I got you both beat. My Dad scribbles a few words on a piece of paper, he calls it a sermon. and it takes eight people to collect all the money!”
After years of his wife’s pleading, this good ol boy finally goes with her to her little local Church on Sunday morning. He was so moved by the Preacher’s sermon that on the way out he stopped to shake his hand.
He said, ”Reverend, that was the best gawd damn sermon I ever did hear!”
The Preacher replied, ”Oh!! Why, thank you sir, but please... I’d appreciate it if you didn’t use the Lord’s name in vain!”
The man said, ”I’m sorry Reverend, but I can’t help myself, it was a good gawddamn sermon!”
The Reverend said, ”Sir, PLEASE, I cannot have you behaving this way at Church”!
The man said, ”Okay Reverend, but I just wanted you to know that I thought it was so gawddamn good, I put $500. 00 in the collection plate!”
And the Reverend said, ”NO SHIT?!”
A new priest at his first mass was so nervous he could hardly speak. After mass he asked the monsignor how he had done. The monsignor replied, ” When I am worried about getting nervous on the pulpit, I put a glass of vodka next to the water glass. If I start to get nervous, I take a sip.” So next Sunday he took the monsignor’s advice. At the beginning of the sermon, he got nervous and took a drink. He proceeded to talk up a storm. Upon his return to his office after the mass, he found the following note on the door: 1. Sip the vodka, don’t gulp. 2. There are 10 commandments, not 12. 3. There are 12 disciples, not 10. 4. Jesus was consecrated, not constipated. 5. Jacob wagered his donkey, he did not bet his ass. 6. We do not refer to Jesus Christ as the late J. C. 7. The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are not referred to as Daddy, Junior and the spook. 8. David slew Goliath, he did not kick the shit out of him 9. When David was hit by a rock and was knocked off his donkey, don’t say he was stoned off his ass. 10. We do not refer to the cross as the ”Big T.” 11. When Jesus broke the bread at the last supper he said, ”take this and eat it for it is my body.” He did not say ” Eat me” 12. The Virgin Mary is not called ” Mary with the Cherry, . 13. The recommended grace before a meal is not: Rub-A-Dub-Dub thanks for the grub, Yeah God. 14. Next Sunday there will be a taffy pulling contest at St. Peter’s not a peter pulling contest at St. Taffy’s.-0+
One day Mrs. Jones went to have a talk with the minister at the local church. ”Reverend,” she said, ”I have a problem, my husband keeps falling asleep during your sermons. It’s very embarrassing. What should I do?”
”I have an idea,” said the minister. ”Take this hatpin with you. I will be able to tell when Mr. Jones is sleeping, and I will motion to you at specific times. When I motion, you give him a good poke in the leg.”
In church the following Sunday, Mr. Jones dozed off. Noticing this, the preacher put his plan to work. ”And who made the ultimate sacrifice for you?” he said, nodding to Mrs. Jones.
”Jesus!” , Jones cried as his wife jabbed him the leg with the hatpin.
”Yes, you are right, Mr. Jones,” said the minister. Soon, Mr. Jones nodded off again. Again, the minister noticed. ”Who is your redeemer?” he asked the congregation, motioning towards Mrs. Jones.
”God!” Mr. Jones cried out as he was stuck again with the hatpin.
”Right again,” said the minister, smiling. Before long, Mr. Jones again winked off. However, this time the minister did not notice. As he picked up the tempo of his sermon, he made a few motions that Mrs. Jones mistook as signals to bayonet her husband with the hatpin again.
The minister asked, ”And what did Eve say to Adam after she bore him his 99th son?”
Mrs. Jones poked her husband, who yelled, ”You stick that goddamned thing in me one more time and I’ll break it in half and shove it up your ***!”
”Amen,” replied the congregation.
It was that time during the Sunday morning service for ”the children’s sermon,” and all the children were invited to come forward.
One little girl was wearing a particularly pretty dress and, as she sat down, the pastor leaned over and said to her, ”That is a very pretty dress. Is it your Easter dress?”
The little girl replied, directly into the pastor’s clip-on microphone, ”Yes, and my Mom says it’s hell to iron.”
